In the modification mode, you are able to change your RPA Express setup, add or remove bots, and set new RPA Express Administrator credentials.


There are several ways to enter the modification mode.

  • Run RPAExpressInstaller.exe and select Modify > Next.
  • If you do not have the installer file, use the app list in Windows settings. Open Windows Settings > Apps & features and start entering the application name. Click Modify to enter needed changes.

Changing RPA Express Setup

Available from RPA Express 2.3.0.

To add server components, you have to install them (in case of the Development Workstation installation type). For that, use the Modify option. 

  • Сlick Install server components on the Components tab.

The following message will appear. Click OK to continue.

  • Or run RPAExpressInstaller.exe and select Modify.

Follow the steps to add server components.

  1. In the modification mode, click Next to proceed.

  2. Select the Development Workstation and Server installation type and click Next.
  3. Enter the number of bots to be run on Server. To select multiple bots, you need:

    1. Windows Server: 2012, 2012 R2, or 2016

    2. user account created for each additional bot

    3. 2 GB of RAM for each additional bot (refer to System Requirements)

      If the machine has non-server OS, you cannot select more than 1 bot.

  4. Edit your Administrator credentials if needed.

  5. To start modifying, accept a security prompt by clicking Yes.

    Mind that the prompt appears in case the current Windows user does not have Administrator's privileges. User Access Control (UAC) is set to notify the user when applications try to make changes to a computer.

  6. Wait till the modification process is performed.
  7. Click Finish.

Changing Number of Bots

To change the number of bots running on the server concurrently, follow the instruction below.

  1. Run RPAExpressInstaller.exe to enter RPA Express setup.

  2. Select Modify and click Next.
  3. Specify the number of bots and click Next.
  4. Click Modify.
  5. If RPA Express is running, the following message will appear. Click OK to continue.

  6. To start the modification process, accept a security prompt by clicking Yes.

    The window above appears in case the current Windows user does not have Administrator's privileges. User Access Control (UAC) is set to notify the user when applications try to make changes to a computer.

  7. Wait until RPA Express is modified.
  8. Click Finish to exit.

Modifying Credentials

Administrator Credentials

To modify credentials, follow the instruction below.

  1. Run RPAExpressInstaller.exe to enter RPA Express setup.

     If you do not have the installer file, use the app list in Windows settings.

    Open Windows Settings> Apps & features and start entering the application name.

  2. Select Modify and click Next.
  3. Edit the credentials and click Modify.
  4. If RPA Express is running, the following message will appear. Click OK to continue.
  5. To start the modification process, accept a security prompt by clicking Yes.

    The window above appears in case the current Windows user does not have Administrator's privileges. User Access Control (UAC) is set to notify the user when applications try to make changes to a computer.

  6. Wait until RPA Express is modified.
  7. Click Finish to exit.

After you have performed the steps above, go to WorkFusion Studio > Window > Preferences > Saved credentials to enter edits there. On finishing, click Apply and Close.

Server Control Tower Hostname

The information in the section below refers to RPA Express 2.2.3 and earlier versions.

In case you installed Workstation only, you can also change the Server Control Tower hostname in the modify mode.

  1. Run RPAExpressInstaller.exe to enter RPA Express setup.
  2. Select Modify and click Next.
  3. Edit the hostname or IP address of RPA Express Server, and credentials if required.
  4. Click Test Connection to verify that the hostname/IP and credentials are correct.
  5. Click Modify to proceed.
  6. Click OK if RPA Express is running.
  7. Accept security prompts by clicking Yes. The modification process will start.
  8. Wait until RPA Express is modified.
  9. Click Finish to exit.

Secure Storage Password

Since RPA Express 2.3.0, you need to enter the Secure Storage password for WorkFusion Studio. If you forgot it, you can reset it as described below.

  1. Close WorkFusion Studio.
  2. Go to the folder C:\Users\<your_user_name>\.
  3. Find the folder named .eclipse and remove it.
  4. Start RPA Express. It should ask you to enter a new password. Confirm the password and click OK.
