Getting Intelligent Automation Cloud – Express and Business

To download Intelligent Automation Cloud – either Express or Business, open the WorkFusion website and go to Products.

  • To download Express Edition, click Get it Free under Express. The installer file (18 MB) is downloaded automatically.
      

    All the required components are downloaded during installation. In case you have any issues with downloading, refer to Installation Best Practice.

  • To get Business Edition, click Request a demo under Business, fill in the registration form and click Submit.

    You will see End User License Agreement and the Subscription Order. To continue, press Accept and Download. You are redirected to the download page, and the installer file (18 MB) is downloaded automatically.

If you have an earlier version of RPA Express installed, the installer prompts you to update your current version as soon as you run it. In this case, see here.

Preconditions

  1. Make sure your computer meets System Requirements.

  2. Stop your running programs.

  3. Check if automatic Windows updates are not running at the moment. Otherwise, they should be paused.

  4. Run the installer as Administrator.

  5. In case installation includes a Server package, make sure you open ports 15100, 15110, 15280 for external usage inside your network (if you plan to use it on other computers).

  6. Make sure that ports 15410-15423, 15444, 15580, 15306 are closed to any external interaction.

  7. Port 8220 should be open for incoming connections from local machines.

While there can be multiple users on a server, only one user is able to run Intelligent Automation Cloud Business at a time.

Selecting Licensing Model

RPA Express Licensing Models

  • Intelligent Automation Cloud Express or Express Edition is a completely free product for individual use only, with no trial period, no license generated, and less system requirements. Within the licensing model, WorkFusion Studio is installed, OCR and RPA components are provided.

  • Intelligent Automation Cloud Business or Business Edition includes the whole set of server components together with WorkFusion Studio, thus enabling you to automate complex use cases, manage multiple bots, and run automation unattended at scale.

  • Intelligent Automation Cloud Business Trial – during the trial period of 30 days, you can use all the Business Edition features available with Intelligent Automation Cloud Business. After the trial period expires, you can either subscribe and continue Intelligent Automation Cloud Business, as a fully-featured enterprise product, or continue working in Control Tower with the limited features.

Installation Process

Before the Intelligent Automation Cloud installation, make sure your machine meets System Requirements.


The installation procedure described below refers to Intelligent Automation Cloud – Express and Business 2.4.0. To install earlier versions, refer to RPA Express Installation.

Depending on what licensing model you have selected, the installation procedure varies. At the moment, there are two installation options.

  • Development Workstation – installation of WorkFusion Studio together with OCR and RPA components for developing and testing RPA automation. No server components (Control Tower, WorkSpace, File Storage) are available for the installation within the Intelligent Automation Cloud Express licensing model.

  • Development Workstation and Server – installation of WorkFusion Studio and all server components to manage multiple bots and running automation unattended at scale. The installation type is available for the Intelligent Automation Cloud Business and Trial licensing models.

Let's see installation scenarios according to the selected licensing models.

Intelligent Automation Cloud Express

Intelligent Automation Cloud Express refers to a completely free product, with no trial period, no license generated, and less system requirements.

If you have downloaded Express Edition, you will be able to install WorkFusion Studio, together with OCR and RPA components. The installation type available in this scenario is Development Workstation (Free) only.

Development Workstation

To install Express Edition, follow the steps below.

  1. Run FreeIntelligentAutomationCloudInstaller.exe.

  2. To start installation process, you must accept the License Agreement. Click License Agreement to view it. 

    You are able to install WorkFusion Intelligent Automation Cloud not only in English, but in Japanese and Spanish as well. Select your installation language in the upper right corner of the installer window.

  3. Read the License Agreement carefully. Use the scroll bar or press the page down key.

  4. To accept, check I accept the terms in the License Agreement and press Next.

    The checkbox I agree to share usage analytics, that can help WorkFusion to improve its products is optional to check.

  5. Enter the email you used when registering for the WorkFusion Intelligent Automation Cloud.

  6. Development Workstation (Free) is selected by default. Click Next to proceed.

  7. On the Administrator Credentials screen, enter Administrator username and password that will be used to centrally manage your automations and click Next.

    Pick any username and password at your choice, though observe the following requirements.

    – The username should be 5 to 20 characters long and contain Latin letters and digits. Special symbols are not allowed.

    – The password should be 8 to 20 characters long and contain Latin letters and digits. Special symbols are not allowed.

  8. Set the destination folder for the Intelligent Automation Cloud installation and click Install.

  9. On the User Account Control screen, accept a security prompt by clicking Yes.

    The User Account Control prompt appears in case the current Windows user does not have Administrator rights. User Access Control (UAC) is set to notify when applications try to make changes to a computer.

    The installation process will start.

    Tip

    While installation is performed, you can watch a short intro to get familiar with Express Edition features. Click on a video thumbnail on the installer screen to open it in your browser.

  10. Wait until the installation is finished and click Finish. To launch Intelligent Automation Cloud, click on its icon on your desktop.

To be able to connect to Control Tower, install server components. For more information, refer to Changing Intelligent Automation Cloud Setup. Mind that your licensing model has to be changed as well.

Intelligent Automation Cloud Business

Intelligent Automation Cloud Business has several licensing models to follow.

  • Intelligent Automation Cloud Business includes the whole set of server components together with WorkFusion Studio, thus enabling you to automate complex use cases, manage multiple bots, and run automation unattended at scale.

  • Intelligent Automation Cloud Business Trial – has the trial period of 30 days for you to use all Business Edition features. After the trial period expires, you can either subscribe and work in Intelligent Automation Cloud Business, as a fully-featured enterprise product. At the end of the 30-day period, you can still keep using Business Edition for free, though capabilities will be limited to a single bot on a single machine.

The installation types available for these licensing models are both Development Workstation and Development Workstation and Server.

When installing Development Workstation, mind that the installation procedure varies depending on whether you have downloaded a free version or a trial one.

Development Workstation

  1. Run IntelligentAutomationCloudInstaller.exe.
  2. To start installation process, accept the License Agreement. Click License Agreement to view it. 

  3. Read the License Agreement carefully. Use the scroll bar or press the page down key.

  4. To accept, check I accept the terms in the License Agreement and press Next.

    The checkbox I agree to share usage analytics, that can help WorkFusion to improve its products is optional to check.

  5. Enter the email you used when registering for WorkFusion Intelligent Automation Cloud.

  6. Select Development Workstation (Free) and click Next to proceed.

  7. Enter the hostname or IP address of WorkFusion Intelligent Automation Cloud and provide the credentials for Control Tower and WorkSpace. Click Next to proceed.

    The username and password entered at this step should match the credentials created on the server to which the machine connects. 

  8. Set the destination folder for Intelligent Automation Cloud installation and click Install.

  9. On the User Account Control screen, accept a security prompt by clicking Yes.

    The User Account Control prompt appears in case the current Windows user does not have Administrator rights. User Access Control (UAC) is set to notify the user when applications try to make changes to a computer.

    The installation process will start.

  10. Wait until the installation is finished and click Finish. To launch Business Edition, click on its icon on your desktop.

Development Workstation and Server

 Intelligent Automation Cloud Business – Development Workstation and Server installation
  1. Run IntelligentAutomationCloudInstaller.exe.

  2. To start installation process, you must accept the License Agreement. Click License Agreement to view it.

  3. Read the License Agreement carefully. Use the scroll bar or press the page down key.

  4. To accept, check I accept the terms in the License Agreement and press Next.

    The checkbox I agree to share usage analytics, that can help WorkFusion to improve its products is optional to check.

  5. Enter the email you used when registering for WorkFusion Intelligent Automation Cloud.

  6. On the Installation Type screen, select Development Workstation and Server and click Next.

  7. Enter the number of bots to be run on Server. Mind that each bot requires a user account to be created. To select multiple bots, you need:

    1. Windows Server: 2012, 2012 R2, or 2016

    2. user account created for each additional bot

    3. 2 GB of RAM for each additional bot (refer to System Requirements)

      If the machine has non-server OS, you can install 1 bot only.

  8. Enter Administrator username and password that will be used to centrally manage Intelligent Automation Cloud components, users, and automations. Click Next to proceed.

    Pick any username and password at your choice, though observe the following requirements.

    – The username should be 5 to 20 characters long and contain Latin letters and digits. Special symbols are not allowed.

    – The password should be 8 to 20 characters long and contain Latin letters and digits. Special symbols are not allowed.

    The credentials entered at this step are used to log in to Control Tower, WorkSpace, and File Storage.

  9. Set the destination folder for Intelligent Automation Cloud installation and click Install.

  10. On the User Account Control screen, accept a security prompt by clicking Yes.

    The User Account Control prompt appears in case the current Windows user does not have Administrator rights. User Access Control (UAC) is set to notify the user when applications try to make changes to a computer.

  11. (Optional) Restart the installer.

    RDS Licensing Activation

    During the Development Workstation and Server installation, RDS licensing is activated automatically. Depending on the number of bots and the RDS license current state, restart might be required at this stage.

    No additional actions needed as the RDS license is not required

  12. Wait until the installation is finished and click Finish. To launch Intelligent Automation Cloud Business, click on its icon on your desktop.

Once Express Edition or Business Edition is installed, you can modify some core features with no need to reinstall. For more details, refer to How to Modify Intelligent Automation Cloud Express/Business.
